It was in 1996 when two Japanese gentlemen climbed to the top of the boiler of Mh6, which stood on the turntable at Obergrafendorf, beautifully restored, to take the last measurements for the first project of FERRO-TRAIN. The brass locomotive, a fine-scale small-series model, is even today the measure of quality and true-to-the original detail. The model was delivered in fall of 1996 at the occasion of a special train pulled by the original. It marks the starting point of many more sought-after models for the friends of Austrian Railway models, especially for the narrow gauge fans.
|
Design and production of the models which followed were mainly done in Austria, both for the brass fine-scale models, but also for high quality plastic models like the Cog Railway program and the 2091 locomotive. For some models we also use a mixed technology, combining the best of brass and plastic model building.
For the sales of the plastic 2091 model, the trademark “VIENNA-TRAIN” was used, but for all other products the FERRO-TRAIN trademark was used, und will be used in the future.

FERRO-TRAIN models are built in HO and HOe gauge, 1:87 scale. We use 2-rail DC to powe our models.
Many FERRO-TRAIN products are only built in short runs, and only in limited quantity. For this reason, we gladly accept your reservations for the models, and will deliver directly to you when the models are available. The products in this web catalog are either in preparation, already available from stock, or unfortunately sold out.
