The narrow gauge Steyrtalbahn ran from Garsten to Klaus, or to Bad Hall in Upper Austria. Today it is only operated as a museum railway between Steyr and Grünburg.
With the bus connection to the standard gauge line to Rohr after the First World War began an economically difficult time for the Steyrtalbahn. In 1931 the company was taken over by the Austrian Federal Railways (BBÖ). After the branch line was shut down for cost efficiency, the main section was closed down as well after a rock fall in 1980.
